Abstract
Objective To explore the relationship between mRNA and protein expressions of PTTG and P27 with proliferative activity in pituitary adenomas. Methods The mRNA expressions of PTTG and P27 were determined by RT-PCR, the protein of PTTG, P27 and PCNA was andlysed by with immunohistochemical study in 30 patients devided into invasive and non-invasive pituitary adenoma groups. Results The mRNA and protein expressions of PTTG in invasive group were significant higher than non-invasive group, with positive correlation with PCNA. There was no significant diference of P27 mRNA expressions between the two groups. The P27 protein had a low-expression in invasive group and a negitive correlation with PCNA. Conclusion The high expression of PTTG leads to an over proliferation in pituitary adenoma. The result of P27 protein to the proliferative activity in adenomas is regulated by translational and post-translational mechanisms. Both of them are cell cycle dependents.
