On Goodness and Beauty in Shen Cong-wen's Literary View and Its Tragic Quality

Abstract

Goodness and beauty in Shen Cong-wen's literary view are combined together, and life making goodness in Shen Cong-wen's literary have terminal value. In the meantime, this kind of goodness is a sort of abstract aesthetics in form combined with beauty. On one hand, Shen Cong-wen pays more attention to literary function of remaking Chinese nature, on the other hand, he thought this function can be completed by aesthetic way. To Shen Cong-wen, his efforts to combine many kinds of opposite factors predict a tragic fate in realistic level.
