Abstract

Shen Cong - wen's novels, on one hand, appealed lor the normal human leelings with modern features and advocated beautiful, healthy and natural ideal. On the other hand, it criticized the alienation, ugliness and apathetic ration. It reveals the author's worries and sorrows towards the future society in Western Hunan. Therefore it keeps its unique position and value in the history of Chinese literature.
