Abstract
The various conditions would change in the operation of a dam. In order to systematically evaluate the seepage of earth dam engineering, taking Yuetang Reservoir dam for example, the plane finite element software is adopted to calculate the dam's seepage states under various operating conditions. The corresponding seepage field is calculated to find out the dam's seepage problems. The seepage slope of the damis larger than the allowable value. Then the reinforcement measures are put forward. By analysing the dam's seepage states under various operating conditions after reinforcing, it can be concluded that the vertical cut-off wall with cement mixing pile can significantly improve the dam's seepage states to guarantee the stability of the dam under various operating conditions. The seepage problems of a dam could be reflected efficiently with the finite element method so as to evaluate the security state of the dam.
