Clinical Study on Donepezil Combined with Piracetam for the Treatment of Vascular Dementia

Objective To observe the effect of donepezil combined with piracetam for the treatment of vascular dementia.Methods 83 cases with vascular dementia from June 2007 to June 2009 were randomly divided into observation group(43 cases) and control group(40 cases).Control group was given piracetam,while observation group was treated with the combination of donepezil and piracetam.Patients' cognitive function and disposing capacity before and after treatment were respectively evaluated by MMSE and BBS.Results In the treatment group BBS score was lower than that in control group after treatment,the difference had statistical significance,P 0.05;In the treatment group MMSE score was higher than that in control group after treatment,the difference had statistical significance,P 0.05;the difference of two groups' therapeutic evaluation results of MMSE had statistical significance,P 0.05.Conclusion The combination of donepezil and piracetam can obviously improve patients' cognitive function and disposing capacity.The effect is significant,and it is worthy of clinic application.
