Abstract

The issue of the text composition of Chujian Lao Zi is a key controversy in the present academic world. Some people believe that Chujian Lao Zi is an excerpt copy of the original. Some believe it is a complete copy. And there are also people who believe that they are copies of three versions respectly produced in three different time units. This article, through examination of cases of the usage of such characters as wang, wuanddao, dao, etc, can help us notice the diachronic distinction existing among the copies of version A, B and C of Chujian Lao Zi, furthermore, a same diachronic distinction also exists in the internality of the copies of version A, B, and C, as well as in the word polymerization between and within the groups.
