Lao Zi's and Zhuang Zi's Words about Dao and Their Impact on Ancient Chinese Literary Theories

Abstract

Lao Zi and Zhuang Zi are the classic works for Lao Zi and Zhuang Zi to spread Dao.However,they also have the penetrating and exhaustive discussion on Dao can not be told.Hidden in their seemingly contradictory words and deeds,there is a unique mode of expression that has subversive and transcendent nature.This elastic language of irrelevant reason,logic and concept has solved the difficult problem that speech is forbidden on the ontological of Dao,while their series of statements on Dao can not be told have become the source of discrimination between language and intention in the Wei and Jin Dynasties and it has exerted far reaching influence on the ancient Chinese literary theories.
