On the Evaluation of Government Performance in Public Administration

As the government reform is going further,the evaluation of government performance,an effective management tool, is attracting more and more attention in public administration.It will boost China's political system reform,supervise government behaviors,improve government performance,better the image and reputa tion of government,and increase the government's role in political management.H owever,so far the evaluation of government performance in China is still in a pr imary stage.Understandably there are some problems in the evaluation,such as ina dequate theoretical and practical research, difficult quantization of government output,low standardization,single evaluation system.In order to strengthen and improve government performance in China,we shall make relevant laws,design perfo rmance goals and performance plans,establish multi performance evaluation system s,perfect information system,develop E-government,and use scientific approaches to relate the evaluation results with punishment reward system.
