Abstract

Objective: To study the relationship between insulin resistance and cerebral infarction or cerebral hemorrhage. Furthermore, effect intervention to decrease insulin resistance would be beneficial to the prevention of stroke. Methods: The level of fasting blood glucose(FBG)and fasting insulin(FINS) were measured respectively in 42 patients with cerebral infarction (CI),40 patients with CH,and 30 patients with other diseases expect for cerebral vascular disease and ISI was tested then compared in each group. Results: FINS was significant higher and ISI was significant lower in the CI group and CH group than that of the control group(P 0.05). Compared with the control group FBG was not statistically different (P 0.05). Conclusion: IR is an important risk factor in cerebrovascular diseases.
