INSULIN RESISTANCE AND LIPPID ABNOMALITY IN PATIENTS WITH HYPERTENSION AND CEREBRAL INFARCTION

Objective To study the insulin resistance(IR) and lipid abnormality in patients with hypertension and cerebral infarction and the relationship between IR and cerebrovascular lesion.Methods The blood lipid,fasting blood-glucose,fasting blood insulin and insulin resistive index(IRI) in 85 cases of patients with hypertension and cerebral infarction(including 40 lacunar cerebral infarction and 45 cases of thrombotic cerebral infarction) in the treatment group were examined,and the results were compared with those in 40 healthy cases in the contrast group.Results Significant differences existed between the two groups in terms of blood lipid,blood-glucose,insulin and ISI(P0.01 or 0.05).The content of insulin was much higher in the lacunar infarction group than in the thrombotic group(P0.05),while ISI was much lower(P0.05).Conclusion IR may be an independent risk factor in patients with hypertension and cerebral infarction.Lacunar infarction may be closely related to IR.
