Abstract

Objective To explore the relationship between the expressions of PR,PCNA and primary brain tumor proliferative activity and its significance in clinical therapy for brain tumor. Methods Immunohistochemical staining(S-P method) was used to detect the expressions of PR and PCNA in 90 various brain tumor tissues(astrocytoma, ependymoma and medulloblastoma). Results The positive rate of PR expression in astrocytoma, ependymoma, and medulloblastoma was 57.89%,50% and 58.33%,respectively.The positive rate of PCNA expression in astrocytoma, ependynoma, and medulloblastoma was 65.79%,92.86% and 66.67% respectively.Significant relationship was found between PR and PCNA,PR and histological grade of astrocytoma,PCNA and histological grade of astrocytoma(P0.05).Conclusion A considerable number of PR-positive tumor cells exist in astrocytoma, ependynoma and medulloblastoma, indicating PR may partly participate in the malignant growth of astrocytoma.PR antagonist may be effective in postoperative treatment of PR-positive astrocytoma.
