Reconstructing the Occlusion of Severe Occlusal Attrition Combined with Defect of Dentition in the Aged

Objective To make an approach on reconstructing the occlusion of severe occlusal attrition with defect of dentition in the aged. Methods Thirty-five aged people with severe dental attrition,some of whom have the TMD symptom,were selected to accept the prosthetic therapy by the use of removable dentures combined with occlusal splints. Results An obvious improvement was obtained, after 3-12 months follow-up,in their mastication function,cwing efficiency,pronouncing as well as rectification in tir unilateral mastication. Conclusion T removable dentures combined with occlusal splints are feasible and effective subjected to t restoration of severe dental attrition with defect of dentition in t aged.
