Abstract
Objective To explore the relationship between spatial learning and times of seizures and the expression of extracellular signal-regulated kinase1/2( ERK1/2 ) in hippocampus of pentylenetetrazol-kindled rats.Methods After being kindled successfully,rats were divided into groups accroding to times of seizures.Their behaviors were afterwards evaluated through Morris water maze and the expression of ERK1/2 in hippocampus was determined by methods of RT-PCR and Western blot.Results Expression of ERK1/2 mRNA decreased in rats with 1 seizures and with 5 seizures(P0.05),and increased in those with 10 seizures and 14 seizures(P0.05).There was no significant difference between groups of total ERK and P-ERK1/2(P0.05).Conclusion Impaired spatial learning is related with times of seizures,its mechenism possiblely related with the ERK signaling pathway.
