Abstract
Objective To explore the effect of pentylenetetrazol(PTZ)-kindled epilepsy on rats' learning, memory and the expression of postsynaptic density 95(PSD-95).Methods Rats were given PTZ till being kindled successfully.Their behaviors were afterwards evaluated through Morris water maze and the expression of PSD-95 and PSD-95 mRNA in hippocampus was simultaneously determined by immunohistochemical and RT-PCR method respectively. Results The ability of the learning and memory of the epileptic rats were impaired. The immunoreactivity of PSD-95 decreased(P0.05)and the expression level of PSD-95 mRNA in hippocampus decreased(P0.01)simultaneously.Conclusion The impairment of the ability of learning and memory of the epileptic rats might be related with the change of PSD-95 in hippocampal neurons.
