Abstract

Objective:To explore the effect of Rhubarb on severe acute pancreatitis and bacterial translocation by establishing the rat severe acute pancreatitis model with Sodium Taurocholate.Methods:30 Wistar rats were randomly divided into three groups, model group of SAP (group M,n=10) was induced by injecting adversely 5% Sodium Taurocholate for 0.2 ml/min (0.1 ml/100 g) into the common biliary-pancreatic duct;and saline was used in the rats of sham operation group (group SO,n=10) instead of Sodium Taurocholate.Therapeutic group (group T,n=10) was made as same as group M besides 1 ml Rhubarb (50 mg/kg) was injected into rats' stomach on the instant after operation.Bacterial culture in pan creas, blood and mesenteric lymph nodes were collected to culture the bacteria. Results:In group SO,blood culture showed negative result, and no organism was found in organs except mesenteric nodes in two rats. The bacterial positive rate of group M was high (P0.01),and it was higher than that of group T (P0.01).Conclusion:The bacterial translocation occurs in SAP shows a high incidence,it may be related to the lower cellular immune function.Rhubarb can inhibit bacterial in intestines and clean intestinal tract, decreases the incidence of pancreatitis and further shows a certain thera peutic efficacy on SAP.
