Abstract

Non-action is the basic idea of Taoist philosophy,Huai Nan Zi criticized and developed Zhuangzi's non-action on the basis of Tao being the essential subject;at the same time,Confucian and Legalist thoughts were integrated and the highest level of philosophical significance of non-action was achieved,showing the early Han Dynasty academic orientation and ideological characteristics of reconciliation and devotion to practice.On the political level,through the application of reason and power,Huai Nan Zi expanded the concept of non-action on the part of monarch and emphasized the effectiveness of ruling with non-action.
