Abstract
Objective To analyze correlation between different sperm density and clinical pregnancy rate after intrauterine insemination(IUI) treatment. Methods The data from 441 infertility couples who underwent 671 IUI cycles in author's reproductive medicine center were retrospectively analyzed. According to washed sperm density, the patients were divided into four groups: sperm density≤4×106/ml, sperm density (5-10)×106/ml, sperm density (11-20)×106/ml, sperm density20×106/ml. Results In group A, there were 7 pregnancy cases in 75 cycles, the clinical pregnancy rate was 9.3% per cycle; In group B, there were 58 pregnancy cases in 443 cycles, the clinical pregnancy rate was 13.1% per cycle; In group C, there were 10 pregnancy cases in 76 cycles, the clinical pregnancy rate was 13.2% per cycle; In group D, there were 14 pregnancy cases in 77 cycles, the clinical pregnancy rate was 18.2% per cycle. No significant differences were found in the results among the four groups(P0.05). Conclusion The pregnancy outcome after IUI is mainly based on washed sperm's quality, cycles with greater than 1×106/ml sperm density are significantly more likely to result in a pregnancy; IUI is an ideal treatment for oligospermia and asthenospermia.
