Efficacy of pretreatment with combined use of mawelon and metformin in patients with PCOS-related infertility

Objective To investigate the efficacy of pretreatment with combined use of mawelon and metformin in patients with polycystic ovarian syndrom(PCOS)-related infertility. Methods The patients with PCOS-related infertility were divided into two groups of A(136 cases,210 cycles,treated with combined mawelon and metformin pretreatment and followed by CC and HMG for induction of ovulation) and B(128 cases and 194 cycles,treated with CC and HMG for induction of ovulation directly).Serum levels of LH,LH/FSH,T and fasting insulin(Fins) and the rates of induction of ovulation and pregnancy were compared between two groups. Results The levels of LH, LH/FSH,T and FIns of two groups decreased significantly after treatment,which was more in group A than that in group B(P0.05).The rate of induction of ovulation in group A was more than that in group B(83% vs.37%)(P0.05).Pregnant rate in group A was more than that in group B(45% vs.11%)(P0.05). Conclusion Combined pretreatment with mawelon and metformin on PCOS patients of infertility can reduce more effectively the insulin resistance,decrease serum levels of LH,LH/FSH and T and improve the rate of induction of ovulation and pregnancy.
