Analysis on curative effect of metformin combined with clomiphene in treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome combined with infertility

Objective:To explore the curative effect of metformin combined with clomiphene in treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS) combined with infertility.Methods:Ninety-six patients with PCOS combined with infertility were divide into observation group and control group,48 patients in each group,the patients in observation group were treated with metformin combined with clomiphene,while the patients in control group were treated with clomiphene.Results:After treatment,body mass index(BMI),fasting insulin,luteinizing hormone(LH),the ratio of LH to follicle stimulating hormone(LH/FSH),and testosterone(T) in observation group decreased significantly,there was significant difference before and after treatment(P0.05);but there was no significant difference in the levels of FSH and estradiol before and after treatment(P0.05).In control group,there was no significant difference in BMI,fasting insulin,LH,LH/FSH,T,FSH,and estradiol before and after treatment(P0.05).After treatment,BMI,fasting insulin,LH,LH/FSH,and T in observation group were significantly lower than those in control group(P0.05);there was no significant difference in the levels of FSH and estradiol between the two groups(P0.05).After treatment,the ovulation rate and pregnancy rate in observation group were significantly higher than those in control group(P0.05).Conclusion:Metformin combined with clomiphene can improve the sensitivity of PCOS patients to insulin,reduce the levels of LH and T,and raise ovulation rate and pregnancy rate.
