The Poetic Value of Notes on Poets and Poetry by Xiaoyuan

Notes on Poets and Poetry by Xiaoyuan is last poetic work of great theoretic value in Qing Dynasty. The author developed a new sense to and spirit of idea broad knowledge sustaining spirit, and advocated idea of real spirit, pointing out that the existence of ego did not mean selfconceit but should be humanistic and expressive of beauty of humanity. Further, author gave different titles to poets who had been famous at different levels from perspective of grand epic. This practice was aesthetically better than any evaluations available in Qing Dynasty and was followed by later generations.
