Abstract
Magnetorheological fluids (MR fluids) as well as electrorheological fluids (ER fluids) is a new type of smart soft mater. MR fluids can change from fluid to solid and solid back to fluid rapidly, and can be controlled continuously. MR fluids are widely used in active and adaptive controls such as hydraulic valve, brake, vibration damper, actuator and sealing device. In this paper, the compositions and properties of MR fluids are discussed. The properties of MR fluids and ER fluids are also compared. The working modes and applications of MR dampers are presented detailedly.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
