Abstract
Magnetorheological(MR) fluid has received a great deal of attention in the recent years.Comparing with its analogs of electrorheological(ER) fluid,MR fluid is not sensitive to impurities, and little particle fluid separation takes place in MR fluids under common flow conditions. Therefore,MR fluids appear to be attractive alternative to ER fluids for use, especially in the controllable fluid absorbers. In this study, following the analysis of the characteristics exhibited by the MR fluids and ER fluids, the static and dynamic characteristics of a MR fluid absorber are investigated with an experimental setup. The results show that the MR damper is rapid-response and suitable for vibration control system.
