Abstract
In his book Carving a Dragon at the Core of Literature Liu Xie does not mention Tao Yuan-ming. That is because Liu Xie's essays on Qiterature have been confined to the historical period of time that comes to a close in the last few years of the East Jin Dynasty but have nothing to do with the vogue Liu Xie's times and wile Liu Xie's preference. In the academic circle there have bean rome scholars who to not quite understand the above-stated reason and who have tried to find answers to it fromexterior factors. And it is quite probable that some of them think Liu Xie's cognitive ability is not as good as that of Zhong Rong and Xiao Tong. To make an inrestigation of this problem town to the last detail, we may find answers in the contents of Liu Xie's book. My quextion is :Does the layout of Carving a Dragon at the Core of Literature exert any influence on scholar's deep ponderation over why Tao Yuang-ming is not mentioned?
