Abstract

The color reaction of manganese with 2-(2-Quinolinlazo)4-methyl-1,3-dihydroxidebenzene(QAMDHB) is studied. In the presence of pH=10 NH_3Cl-NH_3·H_2O buffer medium, QAMDHB reacts with manganese to form a stable 3∶1 complex compound. The maximum absorption wavelength is 560 nm,mole absorptivity is 8.22×10~4 L·mol~(-1)·cm~(-1). Content of manganese is in range of 40 ~ 800 μg/L that obeys Beer's law. This method can be applied to the determination of manganese in environmental sample and the result is satisfactory.
