Abstract

The chromogenic reaction of manganese (Ⅱ)-5'-nitrosalicylfluorone in mixture cationic-microemulsion medium was studied. In the borax (pH9.5~10.5) buffer solution, manganese reacts with 5'-NSF to form a 1∶2 purple complex. The maximum absorption is at 548?nm and the molar absorptivity is 1.39×10 5?L·mol -1·cm -1.Beer's law is obeyed in the range of 0~0.28?mg/L for manganese (Ⅱ). The method has been applied to the determination of trace manganese in the rock minerals and water with satisfactory results.
