Clinical outcomes of endovenous laser treatment of superficial varicose veins in lower limbs

Objective: To compare the clinical effects of treating the superficial varicose veins in lower extremities with endovenous laser technique or conventional surgery( vein stripping to remove the affected veins). Methods: Clinical data were retrospectively analyzed in patients undergone treatment with the above techniques concerning the operative time,blood loss,postoperative pain,off-bed activities,hospital stay and complications. Results: The patients treated with endovenous laser had lower blood loss,shortened operative time,early recovery of activities and reduced hospital stay. Conclusion: Endovenous laser may have less trauma and better effects in treating the superficial varicose veins in lower limbs,and is worthy of wider clinical recommendation.
