Hydroxycamptothecin, leucovorin and fluorouracil regimen in the treatment of advanced gastric cancer

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy and toxicity of the combination chemotherapy with hydroxycamptothecin (HCPT),leucovorin(LV) and fluorouracil(5 Fu) in the treatment of advanced gastric cancer.Methods Thirty six patients with advanced gastric cancer were treated with HLF regimen. HCPT was given on the days 1 3 at a dose of 10 mg/m 2,LV was given on the days 1 5 at a dose of 100mg and 5 Fu was given on the days 1 5 at a dose of 500 mg/m 2 by intravenous drip for 10 hours each day.The chemotherapy was repeated every 28 days and a course of treatment included 2 3 cycles.Results 19 patients showed partial response, 14 no response and 3 had progression of disease. The total effective rate was 52.8%. The main toxic effects were decrease in leukocytes,stomatitis and gastrointestinal catarrh. There was no obviously liver and kidney damage.Conclusion HLF regimen is effective and is well tolerated in the treatment of advanced gastric cancer. [
