Abstract

Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy and the toxicity of the combination chemotherapy(LFTP regimen) with pirarubicin(THP),fluorouracil(5-Fu),leucovorin(LV) and cisplatin(DDP) in the treatment of advanced colorectal cancer. Methods Ninety-six patients with advanced colorectal cancer were treated with LFTP regimen.THP was given iv gtt on the first day at a dose of 35 mg/m2,DDP was given iv gtt on the days 1-5 at a dose of 20 mg/m2,LV was given iv gtt on days 1-5 at a dose of 200 mg/m2 and 5-Fu was given at a dose of 500 mg/m2 on the days 1-5 by intravenous drip for 6 hours each day.The chemotherapy was repeated every 21 days and a course of treatment included three cycles. Results Seven patients showed complete response(7.6%),36 partial response(39.1%) and 20 had progression of disease(21.8%).The total effective rate was 46.7%.The main toxic effects were myelosuppression and stomatitis. There was no chemotherapy-related death. Conclusion LFTP regimen is effective and well tolerated in the treatment of advanced colorectal cancer. Therefore,it has significance for clinical therapy.
