Clinical Efficacy of Irbesartan and Levamlodipine Besylate in the Treatment of Primary Hypertension

Abstract

OBJECTIVE:To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of irbesartan and amlodipine besylate in the treatment of primary hypertension.METHODS:200 patients with primary hypertension were randomly divided into treatment group and control group (n=100).Both groups were given irbesartan 150 mg·d-1(dose of medicine increased to 300 mg·d-1 if unsatisfactory effectiveness was obtained) or amlodipine besylate 2.5 mg·d-1(dose of medicine increased to 5 mg·d-1 if unsatisfactory effectiveness was obtained) for 8 weeks.The changes of blood pressure and the occurrence of adverse reactions of 2 groups were observed before and after treatment.RESULTS:After treatment, systolic and diastolic pressures of 2 groups decreased significantly(P0.05), the decrease of systolic pressure in control group was significantly greater than treatment group(P0.05); The total effective rates were 87.0% for treatment group and 89.0% for control group; there was no significant difference between 2 groups(P0.05);There was no statistical significance in the difference of adverse reactions between 2 groups(P0.05).CONCLUSION:Both irbesartan and amlodipine have good antihypertensive effect and high safety.
