My View on Yin-Yang and Wu Xing

Abstract

This paper examines the source of Yin-yang Theory, thinking the concepts like Yin, Yang and Wu Xing (five evolutive phase) was first discussed in Guanzi, further improved in The Annals of Lv Buwei and completed in Trifles in the Spring and Autumn Period. The paper points out that the ancient theory of Yin-yang and Wuxing, though tinted with theology, can be regarded as a theory harmonizing man and nature. It states that the human beings are important parts of the nature, people shall not over or under-exploit the nature and they should clearly realize the interdependent relationship between man and nature.
