Minimally invasive percutaneous nephrolithotomy for the treatment of complex renal calculi

Abstract

Objective To explore the efficacy and safety of minimally invasive percutaneous nephrolithotomy(MPCNL) for the treatment of complex renal calculi.Methods Clinical data of 78 patients with complex renal calculi who underwent minimally inva-sive percutaneous nephrolithotomy were analyzed retrospectively.Results All the surgeries in 78 patients achieved success in one stage with one to three channels.Single channel was adopted in 63 patients,and the other 15 patients underwent multi-channel lithotripsy.59 patients underwent MPCNL for one time,and 19 patients over one time.In first stage,69 patients got stone clearance,the stone-free rate was 88.5%.The average operative time was 94.7min,the average blood loss was 58.4ml,and the average postop-erative hospitalization time was 5.4d.All patients did not have serious operative complications.Conclusion MPCNL is a safe,highly effective,and reliable method for the treatment of complex renal calculi and has the advantages of minimal invasion,rapid recovery,high calculi clearance rate,less complications.
