Abstract
Objective To evaluate the safety and efficiency of minimally invasive percutaneous nephrolithotomy(MPCNL) in treating complex renal calculi.Methods The writers retrospectively investigated 102 cases who underwent MPCNL for complex renal calculi from April 2004 to March 2007.Results All the cases were successfully performed one-stage MPCNL,with single tract in 85 cases,and multiple tracts in 17 cases.One section procedure in 78 cases mel,two sections or more in 24 respectively.The stone-free rate was 86%.The average operation time was 85 minutes,the estimated blood loss volume was 45 mL and the postoperative average hospitalization time was 5 days,Cardiac arrest occurred in one case.Conclusion MPCNL has advantages of minimal invasian,safety effectivety,postoperative early resumption and shorter hospital stay,which may provide an effective modality for the treatment of complex renal calculi and avoid open surgery in most patients.
