Abstract
Leisure sports industry can improve the urban residents' life quality,shape the image of the city,and create wealth and value for it. Leisure sports industry is indispensable in the process of city development. But currently,city governments' awareness of the organization and management of sports is yet to be raised,urban sports enterprises are far from highly specialized,and the market is underdeveloped. Consequently,urban sports,which should have been one member of the industry troika,is now far behind the cultural industry and the tourism industry. Thus,it is necessary to review the functions of urban sports industry in China,and reflect upon approaches to their expansion. The goal of this paper is to provide the valuable information for the construction of leisure citiesin China.
