Abstract
In this paper, a fast carrier recovery circuit is designed to implement the function of carrier recovery for QAM signals. This circuit can change its frequency and phase detection algorithms by a lock-detector in order to adapt the carrier recovery loop in different periods. Meanwhile by using the weighted DD algorithm in phase detection period, the circuit will achieve the performance of fast recovery. It has been verified by simulation tools that the circuit can acquire frequency offset up to 10% of the symbol rate and phase offset up to 30 degree in only 10 000 symbol periods.
