Analysis of the Historical and Cultural Characters of "Mei Ge"

Mei Ge is the most representative primitive epic of Yi People in Chuxiong Prefecture. Developing with Yi People, it was in perfect harmony with primitive religious sacrificial rites, festivals and celebrations, etiquette and folk custom. The epic has abundant historical and cultural characters such as primitive religious concepts full of strong and mysterious color. It shows the developing process of traditional family marriage and morals of Chuxiong Yi People, reveals the historical course of the uninterrupted growth of social productive forces of them, and at the same time expounds the crops cultivation developing law of them which has changed from nomadic life to the farming life of cultivating upland rice and paddy rice.
