Abstract
Objective To evaluate the treatment of pterygium with amniotic membrane transplantation combined with mitomycin C(MMC).Methods 38 cases(44 eyes) with pterygium were treated with preserved amniotic membrane and mitomycin.The excision of pterygium was performed routinely,preserved human amniotic membrane transplanted into the braed selera.With a follow-up of 4~18 months.Results The cornea of 41 eyes were transparent,non-neovascularization.The sclera was covered well and conjunctiva congestion disappeared.The successful rate of operation was 93.2%.3 eyes(6.8%) occurred again postoperatively.Conclusion Amniotic membrane transplantation combined with mitomycin C is a reasonable therapeutic method for treatment of pterygium with low recurrent rate.
