Abstract
Objective To evaluate the treatment of pterygium with amniotic membrane transplantation(AMT)combined with mitomycin C(MMC).Methods 56 pterygium patients underwent pterygium excision, and amniotic membrane transplantation combimed with mitomycin C(0.2 mg/ml)solution on the sclera for 5 minutes. Results The mean follow-up period were 12 months. The curative rate of primary operation for ptergium was 92.8%.Conclusion Amniotic membrane transplantation combined with mitomycin C is a reasonable therapeutic method for treatment of pterygium with low recurrent rate.
