Abstract
Objective To observe the changes of cytokines of the T helper cells(Th)l and Th2 in peripheral blood in patients with unstable angina pectoris(UAP) in order to explore its role in pathogenesis of UAP and its predictive value for assessing short-term prognosis.Methods A total of 40 patients with UAP(UAP group) and 38 patients with stable angina pectoris(SAP group) underwent angiography were admitted from January to December 2010 and 24 healthy volunteers(control group) were enrolled in the study.Serum levels of the Thl and Th2 cytokines including interferon(IFN)-γ,interleukin(IL)-2 and IL-10 were measured.The incidents of major adverse cardiac events(MACE) in three months in UAP group were observed.Results Compared with control group and SAP group,the levels of IFN-γ and IL-2 significantly elevated,and the level of IL-10 significantly decreased in UAP group(all P0.05).The levels of IFN-γ and IL-2 were significantly higher and the level of IL-10 was significantly lower in suffered from MACE patients than those in no-MACE patients(all P0.05).Conclusions Serum levels of Thl and Th2 cytokines might be associated with unstable plaque of coronary arterial lesions.The levels of Thl and Th2 cytokines could reflect clinical condition of patients with coronary disease and can serve as the useful markers to predict short-term prognosis of UAP patients.
