Abstract

Objective To establish an improved model of Parkinson's disease (PD) in rat model establishment. Methods Sixty Wistar rats were administered with stereotaxic microinjection of 6-OHDA into the right substantia nigra compact part (SNc) and the midbrain medial forebrain bundle(MFB) in the classic group, and only the midbrain medial forebrain bundle (MFB) in the improved group. The changes of behaviors and the quantity of midbrain nigra dopaminelgic neurons were studied after 6 - OHDA injection. Result The death rate in the improved group was lower than that in the classic group, but there was no significant difference in the changes of behaviors and the quantity of midbrain nigra dopaminelgic neurons between the two groups(P0.05) . The quantity of right midbrain nigra dopaminergic neurons in the improved group was significantly lower than that in the control group (P0.01). Conclusion An improved method can be used to establish a stable PD rat model.
