Abstract
The content of nitrite in water sample was determined with aniline-α-naphthol spectrophotometry based on the principle that aniline and nitrite were diazotized in medium of hydrochloric acid, then formed orange color production in alkaline medium coupled with α-naphthol. The results showed the maximum absorption wavelength of orange color production was 480 nm, the linear range was 0~0.96 mg/L, the coefficient related to linear regression equation was r=0.997 6,the apparent molar absorptivity was 2.53×10~3 L/(mol·cm), and the lowest detection limit was 0.08 mg/L. It can be applied to determine nitrite in water sample.
