Study on Toxicological Safety of Radix Ranunculi Ternati Extracts

Objective To study the safety of radix ranunculi ternati extracts in toxicological aspects. Methods The toxicological safety of radix ranunculi ternati extracts was assessed by mouse acute oral toxicity test,Ames test,mouse bone marrow micronucleus test,mouse sperm abnormality test and 90-day feeding test. Results MTD in mouse acute oral toxicity test was higher than 20.0 g/kg·bw.Negative results were showed in Ames test,mouse bone marrow micronucleus test and sperm abnormality test.No significant differences were found in body weight gain,food utilization rates and haemotological indices between test groups and control group.Serum biochemical indices all fell into the ranges of normal values.No meaningful histological changes were observed in the rats' main tissues. Conclusions No significant toxic effects were found in radix ranunculi ternati extracts in this study.
