Abstract

Objective:To study the precision and practical value of computer optometry instrument for children' s optometry, finding out whether the computer optometry instrument can be used for children or not.Method:Pre-liminary test by TOPCON-7100computer optometry was made on257children with abnormal phototropism, and then1%of Atopin liquid medicine was dropped to eyes twice a day for three days in succession. After that,comput-er optometry and retinoscopy optometry were made separately.Result:Before pupil scatter, there was much differ-ence in the average value from lens between computer optometry and retinoscopy optometry.(P0.05);after pupil scatter, the average value from lens of computer optometry had close relativity to that of retinoscopy optometry and the average value from column lens(r=0.971,r=0.801).The difference was not significant(P0.05).The difference in the column lens axis between computer optometry and retinoscopy optometry was quite big(P0.05).Conclu-sion:computer optometry instrument cannot replace retinoscopy optometry, but can be used as instant secondary tool for medical examination.
