Abstract
Objective To learn the accuracy of computer optometric techniques using traditional optometry as standard and the feasibility of using computer optometry to replace the traditional method. Method A group of candidates with normal visual acuity ( n =657) were examined by dynamic computer dioptoscopy (DCD), cycloplegic computer dioptoscopy (CCD) and cycloplegic retinoscopy (CR) respectively. The dioptometric results from the 3 methods and disqualifying rates according to the current standard were compared. Result There were significant differences among the results from the 3 methods, especially between the results from DCD and CR. The disqualifying rate using DCD is much higher than that using CR. Conclusion Computer optometry can not be used to replace retinoscopy unless the corresponding standards were set up.
