Evaluation of the clinical effect of Opalescence PF in-home tooth whitening system on discolored tooth

Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of Opalescence PF in-home tooth whitening system on discolored tooth. Methods Eighty discolored patients were selected randomly and received the bleaching treatment with Opalescence PF in-home tooth whitening system.The tooth color was detected with Vita shade guide before and after the treatment,analyze the bleaching effect. The sensitivity of the teeth was recorded in the treatment by Visual analogue scale (VAS).The color improvement maintained was assessed in half a year,and lightening stability were evaluated. Results The significant effective rate was 72.2%.The general effective rate was 100%.The tooth sensitivity appeared in the treatment and relieved in 2～3 hours. The severely sensitive rate was 5.1%.The sensitive rate was 69.6%.For the treatment efficacy between the time of treatment completion and after half a year,there was no significant difference (P 0.05). Conclusion The bleaching effect of Opalescence PF in-home tooth whitening system is good and can maintain a period of time.
