Abstract

Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of the Opalescence PF in-home tooth whitening system on bleaching discolored tooth. Methods Sixty patients with discolored tooth were selected randomly and received the bleaching treatment with 15% concentrations of carbamide peroxide Opalescence PF in-home tooth whitening system. The tooth color was detected with CR-321 contact color difference meter before and after the treatment. Record the incidence of dental pain. Review and evaluate the stability of the effect. Results The differences of average L,a,b values on tooth surface before and after the treatment in both the tetracycline group and the group of dental fluorosis were significant(P 0.05) . The average color difference was 3.89 and 4.21. The tooth sensitivity appeared in partial patients of the treatment and relieved in 4 ~ 5 hours. After half a year, the effective rate in the group of dental fluorosis was 90%(27/30) ,and the effective rate in the tetracycline group was 86.7%(26/30) . Conclusion The bleaching effect of Opalescence PF in-home tooth whitening system is significant and stable.
