Abstract

Objective To evaluate the effect of short-term intensive insulin treatment on β-cell function and glycolic control on newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. Methods Twenty-nine newly diagnosed type 2 diabete mellitus patients were treated with intensive insulin for two weeks.Studying and comparing fasting plasma glucose (FPG), 2 hour postprandial glucose(2hPG) , glycostylated hemoglobinA1C (HbA1C), Fasting insulin (FINS) and 1 hour postprandial insulin (INS60) before and after the insulin treatment and calculating Homa-βand Homa IR by Homa model, then following up the patients on successful treatment for three months. Results Two weeks' intensive insulin treatment can reverse the βcell function of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients' .Conclusion There are excellent effect on glycolic control of newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus patients by short-term insulin treatment .
