Abstract
Today some science and engineering universities of China tends to realize their comprehensiveness by developing arts. However, there exist a lot of problems, such as inaccurate orientation, unreasonable system, lack of a strategic target and poor construction. We should introspect these problems from the angles of history and reality and profit form the experience of the overseas universities of the same kind. We should value the persons and system as well. In addition, we should pay attention to the unification of content and extension and the combination of deep and horizontal development, handle properly the relationship between foundation arts and their application and choose an appropriate mode to bring up students.
