Discussion on the Basic Issues of Research Work of Universities of Applied Sciences

There are three questions to be answered to the newly built undergraduate universities which are now transforming to universities of applied sciences. That is,should they develop research works or not,what kind of research works and how to do it. Firstly,it is necessary to develop research works,because of the requests of the ages and environment,and the need of universities of applied sciences to construct themselves. Secondly,universities of applied sciences should foster their strengths and circumvent their weaknesses in developing research works,and find their goal of research works to meet the needs of the nation and society. They should strive to become the technology center or new think-tank of the region / industry they rely on,also make an integration of research and education works. Finally,the universities should get rid of the bondage of traditional thought to do a good job of base construction for research works,strengthen technology accumulation,and promote government-industry-enterprise-university cooperation,so as to increase research projects. Even more should the universities seek breakthrough on new and high technologies,generic technologies and core technologies,and make an choice between gradual and carve out development in research works.
