Abstract
Objective To observe the anti-respiratory syncytial virus(RSV)effect of an active compound RG2-1 from Radix Gentianae in vitro. Methods RG2-1 was extracted from Radix Gentianae by hot water extraction, dichloromethane extract and centrifugalization. The CPE inhibition assay was used to test the antiviral activity of RG2-1 on RSV in Hela cells while ribavirin was used as a positive control. Results RG2-1 was effective antiviral agent for RSV in a concentration-dependent manner. The median toxic concentration(TC50)was 10.66 mg/ml,the median effective eoncentration(EC50)was 0.42 mg/ml and the treatment index(TI)was 25.38.Conclusions RG2-1 has an obvious anti-RSV effect in vitro.
