Planning a Harmonious Development of Mother Language Education and Foreign Languages Education under Language Globalization

Language endangerment and English Hegemony are characteristic of the 21th century.Scientific and rational language planning is closely related to a nation's political stability,economic development and national communication.Mother language education is the root,which should be served by foreign language education.The ultimate purposes of China's language planning are to protect and preserve the Chinese language and Chinese culture,to promote national economic development,to enhance the competitiveness of the Chinese language,and to strengthen China's international power.Smooth and successful resolutions of the problems arising from mother language and foreign languages education in basic and high education will be the key tasks of current language planning.
